Code Editor tip for Wide Screen developers (1600+)

One of the benefits of a wide screen (like 1920x1200 pixels) is that you have enough space to design your forms with the object inspector and tool palette on the side.
However, another benefit is the fact that you can right-click on the Code Editor and open two (or more) edit windows and edit your source files side-by-side. The new edit windows remain "on top" of the IDE (and each other), and with a 1920 pixel wide monitor, and right margin of 80, I can almost put three side-by side - only a little overlap if I close the Object Inspector.
And the best thing is that you can even open multiple files in each separate Code Window, so this is also a way to work on the designer and code of the same unit side-by-side again.
Not to mention the fact that you can move these new Code Windows to your other monitors in a multi-monitor setting ;-)

Robert Crandall 08/03/05 15:14:35Yup, I do pretty much the same thing and it is like getting out of jail after all those years on a single screen. The freedom is incredible. Then one of my monitors fried unexpectedly and I was down to one again for a few days - it was a stunning downgrade. Thanks goodness high quality monitors are dirt cheap now.

Flukey 08/03/05 19:01:07In Turbo Delphi 2006 (BDS 2006) opening and using a second edit window caused frequent lockups/crashes and other problems. I don't use that feature any more as I have lost too much work as a result. Is this fixed in BDS2007?
Bob Swart 08/03/06 11:49:44I never encountered problems using the second edit window in Delphi 2006, but only started to use it a lot with Delphi 2007 and CodeGear RAD Studio (ever since I got my fourth monitor connected with 1920x1200 resolution).
Dooble Screen 08/03/07 16:58:59On starting, Delphi 7 always jumped back to single screen width whereas D5 remembered its previous width. Can I assume therefore that this is fixed in D2007?
