The title could just as well have been Pascal by Example, since most of the contents is on (general) Pascal programming, with some focus on Delphi specific Object Pascal programming and even less on Delphi Visual programming itself.
On the positive side: the book is a pretty thorough tutorial on (Onject) Pascal.
Each chapter focuses on on one or several language features, of which you first get an explanation of how and why it works, and then directly start to work with the feature.
At the end of each chapter is a little summary and some review questions and exercises.
This is especially a big help for those who've never programmed before.
