If you haven't purchased the XE2 edition of Delphi, C++Builder or RAD Studio, then this may be a good time to consider it. From now until the end of 2011, you will both get some additional tools (although at least one of these is also available if you purchased XE2 after September 30th this year) - see table below.

More importantly, if you're still using Delphi, C++Builder or RAD Studio 2007, then you have until December 30th, 2011 to purchase an upgrade to XE2. In 2012, the upgrade option is gone, and you will have to purchase a more expensive New User license. If you buy XE2 now, you will be able to buy upgrades for the next couple of years (until XE6, I reckon).

The additional tools you get for free when you buy XE2 now are:

  • XE2 Professional: Rapid SQL XE2
  • XE2 Enterprise: Rapid SQL XE2 + DB Optimizer
  • XE2 Architect: Rapid SQL Xe2 + DB Optimizer + DB ChangeManager.

Note that the Embarcadero website also mentions FastCube, but this tool can be downloaded already if you are a registered user of XE2 (who has purchased it after September 30th, 2011).

Also, if you are located in the Eurozone and buy Delphi or RAD Studio XE2 from me, you'll get my Delphi XE2 Development Essentials courseware manual in PDF format (plus all updates on this title until the end of 2012), plus the XE edition of this manual (which will bring you up to speed if you're still using Delphi 2007 or lower).
