2007/06/21 - Delphi and C++Builder Roadmap
CodeGear has published document that describes the roadmap and their intended plans for Delphi and C++Builder.
Note that a roadmap is never cast in stone, and always subject to change (like the support for Generics in Highlander, which went from "consumption only" to "consumption and creation of parameterized types in Delphi for .NET" (after a lot of feedback).

2007/04/24 - BDS2006 Hotfix 12
BDS2006 Hotfix 12 is available for download for BDS 2006 customers.
This hotfix contains fixes for a memory leak in the compiler when building projects and a codegen bug when comparing signed and unsigned integers.
Use these in place of earlier versions of bcc32.exe and comp32x.dll.
2007/02/12 - BDS2006 Hotfix Roll-up
CodeGear has just now signed-off a new version of the HotFix Rollup of the previous BDS2006 hotfixes 1-9, except 2 and have now added hotfixes 10a-f!
This hotfix rollup will work for all BDS2006 Update 2 editions and all the Turbo releases, all languages.
2007/01/13 - JCL Team releases JCL 1.98
The JCL Team is proud to announce that the stable release of JCL 1.98 is available for download at sourceforge.
This release contains several changes, additions and bugfixes.

2006/11/11 - Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0
The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable Package, now available for download, installs the common language runtime and associated files required to run applications developed to target the .NET Framework 3.0.
If you already have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed, this .NET Framework 3.0 redistributable package installs only the new Windows Vista components.
This ensures that any .NET Framework 2.0-based applications still work when the .NET Framework 3.0 is installed, with no application migration or updates of any kind required.
The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is the new managed code programming model for Windows.
It combines the power of the .NET Framework version 2.0 with new technologies: Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, and Windows CardSpace.
The .NET Framework 3.0 is included as part of the Windows Vista operating system, and the redistributable package is for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
2006/10/30 - Delphi Survey
Nick Hodges has just announced a Delphi Survey for 2006.
In 12 sections of in total about 60 questions (it feels like 100), we are asked all kinds of useful information on the version/edition of Delphi we use, as well as the technologies used (and wanted, like .NET 2.0, UNICODE for VCL, CF, Vista), application types we develop, and much more.

Borland Developer Tools Group / DevCo has just now signed-off a rollup of the previous BDS2006 hotfixes 1-6, except 2 and have now added three previously unreleased hotfixes 7-9! This hotfix rollup will work for all BDS2006 Update 2 editions and all the Turbo releases, all languages.

2006/08/08 - Turbo C# for .NET
DevCo is bringing back the Turbo Editions: Turbo Delphi for Win32, Turbo Delphi for .NET, Turbo C++ (Win32) and Turbo C# for .NET will be released on September 5th, 2006, both in a Free (Explorer) and affordable (less than US$ 500) Pro version.
IMHO, this is a very good move, and will hopefully bring large numbers of new Delphi, C++ and C# developers to the DevCo community (and the TurboExplorer website).
Note that Turbo C# even allows you to build ECO applications (as well as ASP.NET of course).
2006 July - GetPublished Article Contest

2006/06/13 - BDS 2006 Hotfixes released
Borland has released hotfixes to address specific issues (in BDS 2006 Update #2), namely:
2006/05/26 - Delphi SpeedUp 1.8
DelphiSpeedUp Delphi/BCB/BDS IDE plugin Version 1.8 is a plugin for Delphi/C++Builder 5/6/7/2005 and BDS 2006.
It speeds up the time to load the IDE and it also improves the whole speed of the IDE.
This is achieved by replacing some often used RTL functions by FastCode function that are optimized for the used CPU.
It also adds some caches for function that work on filenames like ExpandFileName().
2006/04/18 - C#Builder 2006 Update #2
BDS 2006 (which includes C#Builder 2006) Update #2 is now available for download.

2005/10/10 - Borland Developer Studio 2006
Borland has just announced new versions of Delphi, C++Builder and C#Builder, previously codenamed DeXter.
Delphi 2006, C++Builder 2006, and C#Builder 2006 are offered together as part of Borland Developer Studio; Borland's multi-language developer environment for Microsoft Windows and .NET applications.
It is the only IDE that includes support for Delphi (both Win32 and .NET), C, C++ and C# applications within a single environment.
Delphi 2006, C++Builder 2006 and C#Builder 2006, all part of Borland Developer Studio, will be available for pre-order between Oct. 17 and Dec. 1, with customer shipments scheduled for early December.

2005/06/20 - Delphi 2005 ECO 2 Weblog - Part II
In this second part, I'll build multiple ASP.NET web pages on top of the objects in the EcoSpace, showing the list of categories, weblog posts in categories, and allowing visitors to read the posts (leaving comments will be covered next time).
Next time, I'll add some management capabilities to the application, adding authentication and authorization, making sure that the weblog author can add and edit Categories and Posts, and delete Comments (if needed), while weblog visitors can only read Categories, Posts and Comments by others, or add their own Comments.

2005/03/23 - Delphi 2005 and the .NET Compact Framework?
Several Borland Blog entries have been made by Danny, Allen and Danny again about Delphi and support for the .NET Compact Framework.
What do we need? Only compiler support for the Compact Framework, or also a Visual Designer?
And in case of a Visual Designer, do we want one based on WinForms or VCL for .NET?
For me, the choice is clear: VCL is the way to go for GUI applications: VCL for Win, VCL for .NET and I'd be very pleased with a VCL for .NET/CF.
With a little work you can produce almost single-source applications (with some IFDEFs) for Win32, Linux, .NET and in the future hopefully also Compact Framework (that would mean a new section for this website - replacing this C#Builder Visions with Compact Visions)...

2004/09/21 - Diamondback = C#Builder 2.0 ?!?
After the Diamondback Preview session at BorCon was over, and we all went outside to the Meet The Delphi Team session (with team members available to talk to individually), everyone received a CD with a special BorCon-version of the Diamondback Preview.
From the looks of it, Diamondback truly integrates Delphi for Win32, Delphi for .NET, and C# in one IDE, which effectively makes it C#Builder 2.0 (I personally doubt if there will be a separate C#Builder SKU from now on).

2004/08/13 - Diamondback Rumours
In his weblog, Michael Swindell mentions and comments on some of the Diamondback Rumours that he has read in newsgroups and blogs.
There's an interesting comment there as well, when Michael responds to the question "what about the rumor that Diamondback will join Delphi, C++Builder and C# in a single IDE?" with the following answer:
"Two thirds of that is true for Diamondback. There is a chance that all of it could eventually happen, so it's a rumor with potential."
2004/05/13 - Borland Developer Studio
At the Dutch Software Developer Conference (SDC) Danny Thorpe had an evening session about "A Brief History of Delphi 8 for .NET", where he also briefly mentioned the future of Delphi.
Danny mentioned that the next release of Delphi would contain both .NET and Win32 in the same box and even in the same IDE (the Borland Developer Studio IDE), and that it would also contain C#.
Since C#Builder is actually "BDS 1.0" (the C# personality) and Delphi 8 is "BDS 2.0" (the Delphi personality), it would appear that a future edition of BDS would contain multiple personalities like Delphi (Win32 as well as .NET) and perhaps even C#.
Note that there has been no official word from Borland on this, so at this time it's only hearsay (but very promising hearsay at that ;-)

This technical article - about Working with Data in DB2 UDB Tables Using C#Builder and ASP.NET builds on an earlier article that showed how to build an application using IBM DB2 UDB tables, C#Builder, and BDP for .NET, and then deploy it as an ASP.NET Web form (with a powerful asp:DataGrid control).

2003/06/30 - RemObjects Client SDK for .NET
RemObjects has just announced the availability of the RemObjects Client SDK for .NET, that can be used to build native .NET clients for your RemObjects SDK Servers.
The Client SDK support .NET Framework 1.1 and the Compact Framework, so you can target both Windows based desktops as well as Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition.

2003/06/20 - Working with DB2 using C#Builder with ADO.NET and BDP for .NET
I've just published another article on the IBM DB2-Borland portal using C#Builder.
This article shows how DB2 UDB can be accessed using the Borland Data Providers for .NET, enhancing the ADO.NET experience with design-time and run-time support, including automatic (optimized) SQL command generation.
In this environment, DB2 UDB proves to be a powerful DBMS on the .NET Framework.
2003/06/17 - Borland releases InterBase 7.1
Borland has just introduced Borland InterBase 7.1, a high-performance, cross-platform embeddable database with support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
New in this release is an InterBase edition of the Borland Data Provider for ADO.NET, which can be used with C#Builder, Visual Studio .NET, as well as Delphi for .NET.
You can also download the trial version of InterBase 7.1.
2003/06/03 - C#Builder and SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition
Borland and Microsoft announced an agreement to ship Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition with Borland C#Builder for the Microsoft .NET Framework.
As part of the agreement, Microsoft will create a Borland page (to go live in July) that is accessible via the SQL Server website where developers can obtain information about Borland C#Builder.
Also this summer, the two companies are planning to jointly host a series of seminars designed to show customers the benefits of the two products.
2003/06/02 - Borland C#Builder at MS TechEd, Dallas
Borland has a booth at TechEd, and we will present their .NET suite of tools.
The exhibit hall is open June 2-5. The show itself is open June 1-6.
John Kaster will be presenting two C#Builder in two sessions: Building Database Applications with Borland C# Builder and Microsoft SQL Server, and Modeling with Borland C# Builder and Microsoft SQL Server.
2003/06/01 - ComponentOne Studio Enterprise with C#Builder
Borland will be bundling C#Builder with a special edition of ComponentOne's Studio Enterprise, which includes both development and deployment licenses for .NET WinForms and ASP.NET WebForms user-interface components.
Studio Enterprise is a US$ 899 subscription-based offering that is updated quarterly; the Q1 2003 version will be included with C#Builder.
C#Builder customers will also get Q2 2003 for free, and will be given a copy of ComponentOne's Doc-to-Help 6.5 help authoring system.
After that, Borland customers will be offered the opportunity to subscribe to receive future versions of the Studio Enterprise component suite.
2003/05/23 - C#Builder and Borland Data Providers for .NET
A first public article on C#Builer is available on the IBM-Borland web portal about Connecting Borland C#Builder to DB2 UDB with Borland Data Providers for the Microsoft .NET Framework.
This article shows how to use Borland C#Builder Enterprise and the Borland Data Providers (BDP) for .NET to connect to the DB2 SAMPLE database.
It shows how three of the four BDP for .NET components are used at design-time in a Rapid Application Development (RAD) way.
2003/05/09 - Dr.Bob Examines C# Web Services
In this article, I'll show how web services can be written and consumed in C# and using nothing but the .NET Framework SDK (i.e. without using a C# IDE at this time) to demonstrate the syntax and techniques using the C# language.
You can count on the fact that I'll be using C#Builder as soon as it's available to examine the additional support of a C# development environment.

2003/05/06 - Borland C#Builder announced
Borland has just announced C#Builder for the Microsoft .NET Framework, to be available June 6th, 2003 in four editions: Personal, Professional, Enterprise, and Architect.
A special upgrade price is available for current Delphi, C++Builder, JBuilder or Kylix users: $499 for C#Builder Professional (upgrade) and $999 for C#Builder Enterprise (upgrade).
2003/05/05 - C#Builder announced this week!
According to eWeek, ZDNet and Infoworld, Borland will announce C#Builder later this week.
"Officials said the product offers design-driven development through integration with Together and C#Builder Enterprise Core Objects.
It features interoperability with databases such as Borland's InterBase, Oracle, IBM's DB2 and Microsoft Corp.'s SQL Server.
To be available this summer, Borland C#Builder will come in Architect, Enterprise, Professional and Personal versions and will cost $2,499, $1,799, $999 and $69, respectively."

2003/04/22 - official name of SideWinder is C#Builder
C#Builder will be the official name of SideWinder, according to C!Net that writes: "The first fruit of Borland's .Net efforts is C#Builder, a programming tool that use Microsoft's C# language. C#Builder, code-named Sidewinder, will be available this summer in a few different editions, according to Borland executives."
"The company will follow the completion of C#Builder with a bundled suite of .Net tools that Borland gained during a series of acquisitions last year. The .Net-specific tools will address the process of defining application requirements, the design phase, programming, testing, deployment and management."

2003/02/04 - Borland SideWinder: a C# IDE for .NET
According to InfoWorld and CNet News.com, Borland is getting ready to go up against Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET with an IDE (integrated development environment) for the Microsoft .NET Framework.
The IDE with codename Sidewinder does not yet have a formal product name and will not ship until this summer.
Sidewinder is a C#-based development environment for building applications on the .NET Framework, including on ASP.NET, ADO.NET, and WinForms, according to Borland.
