Skype is a handy application that allows you to interact with others who are also using Skype by chatting, calling, or even conducting a conference call using the internet.
It’s free and easy to use, and is available for Windows, Linux, Pocket PC, and Mac OS X.
Click on the banner at the top to go to a website where you can purchase a very convenient Internet Phone Handset (from the same people who publish The Delphi Magazine and do webhosting as TDMWeb).
2007/02/27 - Delphi and Skype API session at Entwickler Tage 2007
On Tuesday, Feb 27th 2007, I'll be doing a session about Using the Skype API in Delphi Applications at the BASTA! 2007 Spring Edition and dot.net Konferenz 2007 in Frankfurt, Germany.
In this session I'll demonstrate how to make use of the API for the increasingly popular Skype internet telephony application in Delphi to create a range of useful utilities for Skype users, including a nifty software answering machine. I also show how to make Skype calls from inside Delphi applications.

2006/03/11 - Sending Messages using Skype
In this Dr.Bob Examines... article, I'll explain how to use the Skype's API and Chat Command as simple Message Service (from Skype to Skype) - a service which I've been working on for a while.
The article explains how to use the Skype API to start a chat, send a message, and end a chat, combining these commands into a simulated Skype SMS application.
Full source code of this example Skype plug-in application can be downloaded.
If you have any comments, feel free to let me know (by e-mail, or as comment in my blog).
2006/01/25 - Skype 2.0 - with video calling
The latest version of Skype is available for download, including support for video calling.

2005/12/24 - Skype Answering Machine offline
The Skype Answering Machine is turned off again (the dedicated machine wasn't powerful enough to play the welcome message and record the incoming message), sorry.
2005/11/15 - Skype Answering Machine back online
The Skype answering machine (with Skype handle "drbob42") is back online, on a dedicated PII 350Mhz machine, but with a shared ADSL connection to the internet.
2005/10/14 - Skype Answering Machine offline

Read my blog for the detailed explanation...
2005/09/16 - Session on Integrating Delphi with Skype
At friday September 16th, I've done a presentation on Integrating Delphi with the Skype API for the Software Developer Network (SDN) in Ede/Wageningen, The Netherlands.
Unfortunately, the wireless internet connection didn't work, so I couldn't show everything in action, but at least you can download and view the slides now (complete with source code).

2005 August - The Delphi Magazine #120
My Under Construction column in the August issue of The Delphi Magazine is about Using The Skype API With Delphi.
In this article, I examine how to make use of the API for the increasingly popular Skype internet telephony application in Delphi to create a range of useful utilities for Skype users, including a nifty software answering machine.
I also show how to make Skype calls from inside our Delphi applications.
2005/07/22 - Skype Development Area
I've managed to get the Skype example source code (and a reference to The Delphi Magazine) listed on the Skype Development area.
I've been receiving dozens of calls lately, and the source code has already been viewed more than 4,964 times (and counting), getting four stars out of five.
The source code can be downloaded from my own site now.
2005/07/12 - Skype Answering Machine
The August issue of The Delphi Magazine will contain an article about Skype API Programming with Borland Delphi, including full source code for a Skype command/trace application, an autodialer (for use in an application About box for example), and an answering machine.
You can try the Skype answering machine for yourself by placing a call to Skype handle "drbob42" (with five different welcome messages).
Source code for the article is available already, but please read The Delphi Magazine for the whole article with more details.
I'm already implementing more features (like a random welcome message, and the ability to listen to the voicemail messages from a remote location).
Stay tuned for more...
